Our Transition Town Honiton group has been running for 18 months now and we have been keeping busy!  We have planted trees in The Glen, screened films, picked unwanted fruit to give away and donate to Honiton Foodbank, organised events for Climate Week 2012 & 2013 and encouraged growing food by giving away thousands of seeds.
We are currently busy creating a herb wall on New Street (by the bus stop) and we run the monthly Sustainable Saturday event at the Mackarness Hall.  As the group grows, more community projects are planned and the next event in the pipeline is a Clothing Swap on Saturday 1st June. This is a part of the Sustainable Saturday event at the Mackarness Hall from 9am until 12 midday which includes local crafts, artisans, charities and Waste Not Want Not.
People are encouraged to bring clothing items to swap during the morning. They can be adult or children’s clothes, accessories, shoes, hats, bags and more! Everyone can take one item home for every item they bring (a straight swap) or buy clothes for affordable prices on the day. Clothing must be clean and in good condition. Contact Sharon Pavey for more information on 07447 597390 or email sdpavey@gmail.com - we do need more volunteers to help so please get in touch if you can help, even just for one hour!
