NEW Transition Waste Group

Transition Town Honiton brings together a range of people from the community who are working on three different projects at present. The Community Orchard group are planning to create an orchard in town and the Sustainable Saturdays group run a monthly community event in the Mackarness Hall. The third group plants, grows and maintains areas in town like the herb wall on New Street and trees they planted last year in The Glen.

All three established groups welcome more volunteers to grow and develop their projects and a fourth group is being looked into if enough people show an interest. This new group would try to find solutions to waste issues in Honiton, and could potentially set up community plastic and cardboard collections. Our neighbours over at Sustainable Crediton have organised plastic recycling – see www.sustainablecrediton.org.uk and would be willing to come and talk to us about how they do it.

These kinds of plastic tubs are not currently collected from households in Honiton

If recycling and reducing waste is something you care about and could contribute a little time, please email sdpavey@gmail.com. Alternatively telephone Sharon on 07447597390.
