Transition Town Honiton started running Sustainable Saturday community events in January 2013. The events were great while they lasted but unfortunately the group running them got smaller and smaller and eventually became un-sustainable. That’s not to say we won’t put the occasional one on again in the future…..

In 2014 we changed the way we do the events. We needed to have the events less often as organising and running one event per month was becoming quite challenging for our team of volunteers. We also wanted to re-focus our energy on making the events much more about awareness-raising and education as well as still being really enjoyable community get-togethers including food, drink and meeting like-minded people.
We had 3 events in 2014 – a Fairtrade Fayre in February and Sowing & Growing in April and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle on Saturday in July.

Any profits we made from this event were re-invested back into the Honiton community – to pay for other events we put on like film screenings, climate week events and seed giveaways. We also buy plants, compost etc for our community planting projects.
